Vampire Uprising

Happy Halloween tomorrow.  Here's my last card for October.  This was so much fun to make   The

little vampires are climbing out of their coffin to scare the grandson of one of our best friends.  I hope he liked it.

Technique:  Inlaid die cut
(didn't have a vampire die so I die cut the cemetery plot and then the coffin and then a piece of sod to  display the sentiment)
Die cut the Sizzix on the edge Townscape once from midnight muse and once from sky blue.  Stacked them over a scrap of SU Daffodil Delight.  Stamped the tree and cut it out and popped it up.   Stamped the vampires once in the coffin and then two more times so they could be cut out and popped up as they rose from their grave.  Used a MS punch of moon and stars.

Stamps:  SU Fang-tastic for sentiment and vampire.  Taylored Expressions Fangtastic for the tree.
Paper:  SU Chocolate Chip,  Midnight Muse, Sky Blue, Daffodil Delight, and Always Artichoke.
Ink:  StayzOn Black
SU Markers : Concord Crush, Real  Red, Really Rust, Only Orange,Lucky Limeade, Basic Grey, Blush Blossom.

Pick your Poison Halloween

Yes I still have a few Halloween cards to make. Love how this one turned out.  The goosebumps spray adds super fun texture.
Had some left over stickers that I cut to fit the Tim Holtz Alterations bottle dies and used his skull & bat dies too.  Lost the sentiment stamp after i used it so I can't credit anyone right now.  As soon as I find it again I'll add to the post.  Everything else is Taylored Expressions Fangtastic.   Lots of fussy cutting and pop ups.  No boiling pot would be complete without the spills from SU Gorgeous Grunge in Raspberry Ripple Ink.

Here's a side shot to give you a better look at the goosebumps.
I'll make one more card before I move on to Thanksgiving so I'll post something tomorrow.

This is my first attempt at doodling-  yes see the little ink marks.  I have no talent, but I don't think the doodling ruined the card.  The witch might be too cute.  I'll have to shop around for some evil witches before next year.

Inlaid Die Cuts Halloween

Found inspiration in Dina Kowal's Splitcoast tutorial this week.  Perfect opportunity to use coordinating stamps & dies from Papertrey Ink.   Aren't the cats adorable?  Couldn't resist sequins and twine and little stars..

Stamps & Dies: PTI  Superstition & Full Moon
Paper :  SU  Tangerine Tango, Elegant Eggplant,   Smokey Slate, Misc. Textured Grey
Ink:  SU Crushed Curry, TT, EE, Basic Grey
SU  oval punch
Technique:  Inlaid Die Cuts

The moon , yellow cat, broom, and grey cat in the pumpkin were all die cut from scraps of paper and stamped in coordinating ink. Those dies were also used to cut the shapes from the card front as explained in the tutorial.  The stamped shapes were used to replace the shapes cut out of the card front.  All are held in place with tape on the back.   (Got it?)    The clouds are stamped in Basic Grey and the witches hat & sentiment label are popped up with foam tape.  I'll be sending this card to my home town friends whose 2 cats resemble these.

Sympathy Bokeh Background with Inka Gold Metallic Rub

Needed a sympathy card and found a technique called Bokeh Background on Splitcoast Stampers.  Cased the card created by Lydia Fiedler for the tutorial.  She used metallic gelato, but I didn't have any so I substituted the Steel Blue Inka Gold Metallic Rub that I bought on sale months ago because it looked interesting.  Her beautiful card included gelato on the stamped butterfly and the surrounding dots that are the Bokeh technique.  I used the Inka Rub all over the card front because I couldn't stop playing with it.

Rubbed the blue Inka Rub on the butterfly stamp from the Unity KOM  Jan. 2012 Heart & Soul and stamped it a little left of the center of a piece of  SU Very Vanilla cardstock.  Rubbed more Inka Rub on the card front with a folded piece of paper towel leaving some areas uncovered.  As in the tutorial I used a  pencil eraser in the Inka Gold Rub to stamp  the dots surrounding the butterfly.

Stamped the same butterfly from Unity on a scrap of SU Very Vanilla with SU Tempting Turquoise ink and cut it out  and popped it up a little off center over the Inka Rub butterfly I'd stamped earlier. Stamped a sentiment from MFT Clearly Sentimental about Sympathy and framed it and the card front with  SU Tempting Turquoise card stock.  Glued a piece of SU linen thread and a small SU button and drew on the butterfly antennae with Liquid Applique' touched up with a SU Tempting Turquoise marker.

I'm sorry that the  richness of the color from the Rub doesn't show up in the photo.  This is a lovely technique I'll use again.  Thank you Lydia for the tutorial.

Unity Friends with Flair

Had to make a Halloween card for this weeks Unity FWF.  I've wanted to ink the Unity  Itty Bitty You Witch! stamp and this contest is the perfect opportunity.

I stamped the hat on watercolor paper with StazOn black ink then restamped with versamark and clear embossed the outline.  Colored the hat with SU reinkers in Tangerine Tango, Real Red & Lucky Limeade.  Then I colored over the hat with a Versamark marker and clear embossed the painted hat.   Used SU reinkers to paint background color in Midnight Muse and Pool Party.  Then added stars with White Craft ink.  Cut out a rectangle and painted with Pool Party.  Then stamped the sentiment from You Witch! and mounted it on a piece of burlap.  Attached all to card front and accented with a button (free gift with an earlier Unity purchase I think) and a piece of pipe cleaner & some misc. twine and cording.  This was my first attempt at Alternative Masking.  I cased this card from many beautiful cards I saw using that technique.  Paper is SU- Crushed Curry and Midnight Muse.
